Kobugabe takes on Africa's Number One in quarterfinal showdown

ACCRA, GHANA | Husna Kobugabe is poised to take on Africa's top ranked player, Kate Foo Kune, in the quarterfinals of the women’s badminton singles at the 13th All-Africa Games held in Ghana.

Despite a late injury scare during her round of 16 match against Algeria's Yassmina Chibah, Kobugabe secured a convincing 2-0 victory, earning her spot in the quarterfinals.

Mauritian Kune narrowly defeated Nigeria’s Deborah Ukeh Uchechukwu coming into this clash but Kobugabe remains resolute and undeterred by pedigree and ranking of her opponent.

The Ugandan's sole focus is on clinching victory in the quarterfinals to advance to the semifinals.

“Mentally, I’m prepared to give my all on the court," Kobugabe said.

"I'll approach the game with nothing to lose, following the strategies outlined by my coaches. While the injury scare is there, I refuse to let it overshadow my focus on the game."

Kobugabe's singles quarterfinal game is scheduled for March 9 at the multipurpose hall in Accra, Ghana.

As she steps onto the court, anticipation builds for an exhilarating match as she aims to showcase her skill and determination.
